Miami photos
Florida, United States
Year-round homeport for the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
Miami is the busiest homeport in our sample set. Ships leave the downtown port for seven-night Caribbean weeks and for three- and four-night Bahamas runs, which means you can compare a long weekend and a full week without changing cities.
Miami International is the closest major airport. Some travelers use Fort Lauderdale instead and add a ground transfer. The port itself sits on the downtown waterfront, so the logistics are simpler than at a pier that is an hour from the city you are flying into.
- Caribbean and BahamasBoth regions are in the Miami samples, on different lengths of trip.
- Downtown embarkationYou are not driving across the state on the morning the ship leaves.
- Year-round calendarUnlike Alaska or the Mediterranean, this homeport is not a summer-only program.

Questions about Miami
How early is boarding?
Most ships start boarding late morning. Your documents set the time, and it is not the same for every line.
Can I arrive the same morning?
People do, and a delayed flight is how they miss the ship. A night in Miami is the calmer plan. We do not reserve that hotel from this form.
Is parking available?
The port has parking facilities. Rates and rules change, so confirm them before you leave the car for a week.
